The earthquakes listed have been localized by the analyst staff, that is, a group of people working in the seismological division, belonging to the Catania Section. Localizations are carried out according to uniform scientific criteria and shared among all analysts in order to produce a reliable product to make available to the scientific community. Localizations are obtained through programs developed by the Etnean Observatory and using a computer program Hypoellipse 2.0, for determining hypocenters and magnitudes of local earthquakes. Are used various models of crustal velocity depending on the station: Hirn et al., (1991) for the Etnean area and Jeffreys and Bullen (1967) for the Aeolian archipelago. For each earthquake are listed, in tabular form, a lot of information about the earthquakes parameter, through which the database can be consulted. Accurate localization and reliable detection of seismic events allows the determination of the focal mechanisms with the standard FPFIT algorithm (Reasenberg and Oppenheimer, 1985) and thanks to an adequate distribution of the seismic stations of the permanent network, integrated by the seismic mobile network of the INGV-OE, the focal mechanisms are determined.
