This coronavirus caused a disease called COVID-19 and shared nearly 70% similarity in the genetic material with its renowned sister (SARS-CoV-1). To date, there is still no specific treatment or prevention for the COVID-19. Growing evidence indicates that vitamin D has essential roles in the immune response, particularly against enveloped viruses. The likelihood that vitamin D may offer a possible preventive strategy on SARS-CoV-2 infection should be taken into account.
